This seminar is about engineering as a design optimization discipline, about our challenges to provide a better sustainable society and a better education for the next generation of engineers. The subject will be addressed from a structural topology optimization viewpoint, with emphasis in the automotive industry issues and examples. The educational challenges that universities and graduates face under the new transforming discoveries will be also discussed along with a short review of research areas for the next years to come.
